A name, a promise. With the emergence of the first “silver threads” in his hair, Vittorio, cellarman at il Pianzio, felt the need to leave behind the vivaciousness and freshness of white wines to concentrate on something more authoritative, more intriguing – Eremo. This wine is austere but not overly so, elegant, expressing an authoritative character and suitable for those who enjoy the pleasures of life. This reserve was conceived as a tribute to the nearby Eremo del Monte Rua, a place of gathering and meditation. This is how we created a wine almost for meditation, austere and intriguing, with an elegant profile and suitable for those who love to enjoy the pleasures of life. Our philosophy is not to have excessive influence from passages in wood, and for this wine the barrel ageing was designed exclusively to smooth out the rougher tannins, and to give the wine breathing space, which thus has the right amount of time to express its personality.
Tasting notes

A ruby-coloured wine with lively garnet reflections. An austere, elegant, complex – almost broad – nose. It offers ethereal notes of marasca cherries under spirits, spicy notes of pepper, clove and dog rose. This is followed by distant trails of vanilla, tobacco, dried flowers and delicate balsamic notes.

The tasting reveals an important and structured wine, with velvety and pleasant tannins.

Due to its structure and complexity, it is a wine that goes well with large braised meats, Fiorentina steak, mature cheeses and game. Try it ‘on a full moon evening in front of the fireplace’.
